Who this covers

This policy covers the Direct Hire mobile app and directhire.hk. The company named under "Contact us" is responsible for your data.

What we collect

• Profile details: name or nickname, birth date, nationality, gender, religion, marital status, family, work experience, health details you choose to add, and job preferences
• Contact details: phone number, email, WhatsApp number and district
• Photos and videos you upload
• Messages, job requests, interview requests, community posts and agency reviews
• Contracts you add yourself, with salary and leave records
• Your login, and tokens that let us send you notifications
• App usage: the screens you open and the actions you tap, with a group label (employer, or helper with a nationality group), linked to a random app ID and not to your name

Why we use it

• To match employers and helpers, and show profiles to them
• To deliver messages, requests, video interviews and notifications
• To keep people safe, by checking messages and posts for phone numbers and abuse
• To understand how the app is used and improve it

Who can see it

• Other users and agencies: profile details you publish, and messages and requests you send them
• Employment agencies you deal with, which keep their own records of that work

Services that handle data for us

• Google (Firebase, Google Analytics, BigQuery): storage, sign-in, notifications and usage statistics, with ad personalisation turned off
• Algolia: helper and employer search
• LiveKit: video interviews, which we do not record
• OpenRouter, an AI service: checks the text of messages and community posts, and reads uploaded biodata
• Apple, Facebook and Google, if you sign in with them

Where it is stored

Our main database is in Hong Kong. The services above may process data in other countries.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed after 30 days, except what is listed below. Agencies may keep contracts and case records for up to 7 years because they may be required to by law. Messages our safety filter stopped are kept for up to 7 years. We keep a record that your account was deleted. Usage statistics are linked to a random app ID, not your name, so they cannot be traced to your account and are not removed.

Your rights

You can ask to see or correct the data we hold about you, using the contact details below. You can delete your account in the app, under Me, or on our delete account page. You can also turn your profile off in the app at any time.

Children

Direct Hire is for adults looking for or offering domestic work. It is not for anyone under 18.
